When I was a child, but I found a lot of excitement in looking at graphics, especially pop and optical art. My father was an artist and an art collector, as a young man he was coming home with these strange pieces of art that you did not see in the museums. At the time, his philistine acquaintances including his family said it was worthless and a waste of money, it was in fact quite revolutionary and adventurous.
This art is now valuable in a monetary sense, so sucks to the naysayers. But to me I just loved looking at it, and as an artist going on to actually make fun stuff. The payoff for me is in the act of creation; knowing that people are willing to embrace these children of the psyche.
